Am Wochenende fanden in Deutschland gleich zwei internationale Turniere U16 in Düsseldorf und Duisburg statt, an welchen eine kleine Delegation vom LZ Thurgau erfolgreich teilgenommen hat.

Annika Zünd und Sinja Lüthi kämpften in Düsseldorf, während Ivan Gjorgiev und Levin Bänninger in Duisburg starteten.

Etliche Erfolge im In- und Ausland zeigten auch hier die Stärke von Annika Zünd. Fünf Siege bedeuteten souverän den Gewinn der Goldmedaille. In Führung liegend verletzte sich hingegen Sinja Lüthi und musste das Turnier vorzeitig aufgeben.

Ivan Gjorgiev gewann nach einem Freilos gleich vier Kämpfe und sicherte sich schlussendlich verdient die Goldmedaille. Levin Bänninger setzte sich mit Siegen sehr gut in Szene, obgleich der grosse Erfolg ausblieb.

Insgesamt nahmen Judokas aus Deutschland, Benelux, Lettland, Polen und der Schweiz teil. Trotz Konflikt nahmen auch einige Judokas aus der Ukraine teil, die zwischenzeitlich bei deutschen Clubs das Training besuchen.
